Expect More Epidemics Says the CDC

According to the CDC Mosquito bites can make you sick.
Viruses spread by mosquitoes are causing epidemics more often, including the recent chikungunya (2013-2014) and Zika (2015-2017) epidemics.  In the continental United States the most common virus spread by mosquitoes is theWest Nile virus.  People in the USA can also get sick from viruses spread by mosquitoes, like La Crosse encephalitis or St. Louis encephalitis although for now they are less common.  Note that between 2004 and 2016, most US cases of Zika, dengue and chikungunya were reported in US territories.
