Three components are needed for Smartphone connectivity.
1) BUY AN iMIST2 READY SYSTEM: Your misting system needs hardware to communicate wirelessly to the Gateway. Older systems can add a retrofit kit.
2) BUY A "Gateway" A Gateway is the device that not only speaks to the misting system wirelessly but ALSO speaks language of the Internet. It keeps the misting system separate from any wireless network you may already use.
Think of a gateway as a translator that speaks two languages, one for the misting system and one for the Internet AND keeps it all separate (for security.) The gateway needs an open port on your hub or router and an electrical power connection. (A data cable and electric connection wire is included with the Gateway.) There is nothing for you to configure at the gateway, but you must contact us to supply some information unique to each Gateway so we can turn on its service.
3) SERVICE -- Service is a paid subscription that you may drop at any time, without obligation. It is the final piece of the trio. Once the gateway is connected how does the data from your system get magically to your smartphone?
MistAway operates the "back-end server" making communications with your smartphone and system data available to you. As your app opens and wants to display your system's information, the backend does all the hard work and presents it to you.
The backend also holds your misting system's history so you can see the last mist, next scheduled mist, running status, and a lot more.
In reality, this is all quite straight forward and the connection is made in only a few minutes.
