Required Components to Make iMist2 Operational

This is a detailed explanation for a solid understanding of the parts and service needed to make an "iMist2 Ready" mosquito misting system available for monitoring and control via your smartphone.

Although a fairly detailed article, in reality, it is simple and the connection is made in only a few minutes.

Three (3) components are needed to make an "iMist2 Ready" system available and controllable via your smartphone.

1) BUY AN iMIST2 READY SYSTEM: Your misting system must have the necessary hardware to communicate wirelessly.  This is what the "iMist2 Ready" means. It has the first of three parts needed.    It still needs to be connected to the Internet, but who wants to have a special Internet account ($$$) just for the misting system? Nobody.  The MistAway engineers designed the iMist2 Ready System to hop onto your existing Internet connection WITHOUT invading your security and privacy.  To do this, an interpreter is needed, and it's called a gateway.

2) BUY A "Gateway"    A Gateway is the device that not only speaks the misting iMist2 Gatewaysystem's wireless language but ALSO speaks the hard-wired language of the Internet. It keeps the misting system separate from any wireless network you may have and provides a strong enough signal to reach your misting system outside.

Think of a gateway as a translator that speaks two languages, one for the misting system and one for the Internet AND keeps it separate (security) from an existing network.

The gateway needs two connections, one connection is directly into an open port on your hub or router with the included cat-5 cable and the second is to electrical power with the included power cable.

There is nothing for you to configure at the gateway, but the gateway carton will have a couple specific numbers that are needed later. One number, the PAN number, is entered into the controller of the misting system (easy, instructions included, or call us) and the other is called into, or sent to us, so we can configure the "service" to listen for your gateway connection.

3) BUY SERVICE* -- this is the final piece of the trio. Once the gateway is connected where does the data from your system go?  The data needs to be separated from everybody else's online misting system and available to the language of your smartphone.

This is done by MistAway on a "backend" server with software that makes everything available to you by making sense of all the data.  It keeps it available when your smartphone app requests the information.  As your app opens and wants to display your system's information, the backend does all the hard work and presents it to you.

The backend also holds some history so you can see things like the last mist, next scheduled mist, running status, etc.

In summary -- the misting system talks to the gateway and the gateway converts the signals for transmission over the Internet.  These signals are received by MistAway's backend servers and are made available to your smartphone whenever you open the app!  Any misting changes or commands you send from your smartphone go in reverse to the the misting system!

*The first 12 months of service is included in the price of the gateway, continuing forward, a fee for ongoing service is required.
